Some food for thought: Would you stop and stare at a person who was leaning against a public wall to write something down in a notebook? The other day, I’ve found out the hard way that pulling out a notebook and stopping to write in it in a public street will earn you some curious glances.

But would anyone cast a second glance at someone who had stopped to text? Is there something more mysterious and/or unusual about writing in a physical notebook? (Aside from the rarity of it, that is.) Does it look suspicious?  Scholarly? I was writing down potential blog post ideas, but I still somehow felt as though I needed to cover up my notebook in a way that I would never need to do with my phone. Why does one gather more attention than the other?
